Man caught with 28 bags of indian hemp

The men of the 'A' Division police station in Akure, the Ondo State capital, yesterday seized 28 bags of marijuana from a residential building along Leo area of the city. A man, Alonge Bolaji, suspected to be the owner, was also arrested.

Mr. Alonge was arrested alongside six other co-tenants who allegedly failed to notify the police of the nefarious activities of the suspect in a residential building.

Parading the suspect, Hamza Ameyi, the divisional police officer in charge of the station, said the arrest and the seizure were made possible based on a tip off from the public.

Mr. Adeyi said that despite the fact that residents of the building allegedly knew what the suspect did for a living, they did not report his activities at the police station.

"Though we have freed the other six people, it will serve as a lesson to them to always report any foul play or sinister move they discover in their environment," Mr. Ameyi added.

Questioned by journalists, Mr. Alonge, who confirmed that the substance was found in his room, however, said that he was contracted to buy the substance by one Adamu from Kano.

He added that Adamu, who was still at large, gave him N30, 000 to buy the 28 bags while promising to pay more later.

"I bought each bag at the rate of N3, 500 with a view to sell it to Adamu at N6, 000 per bag. I wanted to make quick money from it and use it to take care of myself.

"At least I am not a robber; I don't think what I did was wrong because it is another kind of business, which can bring quick money. It is better than internet fraud and other criminal acts."

When asked why he ventured into the business, he said, "man must eat and since I cannot go into armed robbery, I have to take care of myself through selling Indian hemp."

New set of arms intercepted

THE Tin-Can Island Customs Command of the Nigeria Customs Command, NCS, yesterday  intercepted another set of arms and ammunition concealed in four vehicles in a 40″ container.

This is the third time in less than two months that security operatives would be intercepting and confiscating arms and ammunition in the seaports.

Speaking to newsmen on the development, Customs Area Comptroller, Mr Austen Warikoru, said  the vessel, MV Safmarine Texas, that brought in the container from the United States had since gone back, adding that the importer and the clearing agents had been arrested.

He also stated that the items had actually gone through examination and were about to exit the gate when a second examination exercise was carried out following a tip off.
Also found in the container with number UESU 456777-3 includes 1,431 round of live ammunition, two hand guns, a large military bag, and  two military camouflage wears.

He noted that the way the four vehicles were packed in the container, it was really difficult to carry out a proper examination externally.

His words: "To be sure of the content of the container, we had to carry out a second and proper examination."

He also said the seized items, the suspected importer, Mr Ume Uzoize and the clearing agent, Mr Ifeanyi Edom, have handed over to the Police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, operatives from the Nigerian Navy Intelligence have also intercepted eight illegally imported military trucks just as two person have also been arrested in connection with the import.

In a statement the Federal Officer Commanding Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor said that some of the seized items include a Chevrolet double cabin vehicle covered with a camouflage tarpauline spread neatly into a container.

"Inside the vehicle were some pistols, hundreds of live ammunition, bullet-proof jackets and military boots and sundry prohibited items.

"In addition, heavy duty military trucks used for the movement of troops and logistics were also impounded by the Command".

He stated that the onslaught against these criminals will continue until they desist from the unlawful activities.

INEC releases new time table

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday released the time table for the 2011 elections with the presidential election scheduled to hold on 9th April, 2011.

The National Assembly election is to hold on the 2nd of April while the gubernatorial elections and the State Houses of Assembly will take place on the 16th of April.

The provisional time table was immediately hailed as a political advantage for President Goodluck Jonathan who is canvassing for his party's presidential ticket in the election.

The order of elections gives him the advantage of assuring the loyalty of governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who would be expected to play a key role in helping him win the election if he emerges the presidential candidate of the PDP.

In a brief ceremony at the commission's headquarters last night, the national chairman of the commission, Professor Attahiru Jega  explained that  the release of the time table was in conformity  with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Lecturers @ American University of Nigeria earn $1m monthly

American lecturers at the American University of Nigeria, owned by the former vice-president and now presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, earn one million dollars per month.

This was disclosed by Abubakar, at the second National Joint Education Stakeholders Action Coalition held in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him under the salary was part of the negotiations that he had with an American university in Washington D.C in the United States before it allowed the lecturers to come to Nigeria.

Atiku said, "Today I do not derive one kobo from all the investments I have made in education. Rather, in the university I still continue to pay the American lecturers one million dollars every month because the school fees that they are charging are not even enough to fuel the generators that they are running because the university was built to American standard. Because I have a special agreement with the American university in Washington, managing the university and everything I do must conform to American standard."

THIS PINGING SHIT!!

Before i got mine, everywhere i went it was always blackberry this, blackberry that. It was all so irritating to me. It got to a point that hearing the name "blackberry" for whatever reason made me nauseous. Adding salt to pepper, when i and my friends engage in very serious gists i subconsciously notice the sudden hush of some of them like they had gone mute, then surprisingly they start chuckling, some even roar with laughter. I then think to myself "have they gone bananas?" without further ado i ask what their problems are and the reply i get is: "this person wey i dey ping dey bust my head". This makes me go red in rage but without agitating, i hiss it all off and say to myself what the hell is it with all this blackberry drama. After being forced publicly to know much about it against my wish especially with much display of the device from ladies, i opted for one. Ever since my life has not remained the same. Using one gave me a new perspective of the old saying "na who wear shoe no where e dey pinch am". I must say the makers of this phone are tear tear my skull. Apart from making the world less than a global village, the trips you catch from pinging, browsing and listening to music all at once is off the hinges. The downloads and applications at your disposal could make you go wild. Even for all those sharp boys that love to keep in touch with their babes, the blackberry internet service has made communication easier and free since all you need to do to talk, and listen to your sweetheart's voice if you can't call is to send voice notes (that's if she has one o!). I must comment that the blackberry virus is officially the most virulent cos' once it hits you, you'll go all BLACK 'n' BERRY. The BB flu is widespread and is still spreading rapidly. In the world of distractions, it has occupied the number 1 spot, displacing the television and some girlfriends. The pinging technology has cut the cost of making few seconds calls to ask frivolous questions (why call when you can ping). As a bad guy if you want to meet a babe, the BB apart from boosting your swag, also helps you cut the chit chat and convincing that it takes to get the girl's nos, all you have to do is collect her pin. For all you immoral users that see the BB as a tool for dirty acts you will be charged to the BB court of law. Its official from now on my guys make una no vex but 'No BB No friendship' and my girls 'No BB No........' I pray ooo. I could go on and on but i bet you get my drift. To all those seasonal pingers please go and pay for your BIS, its worth it................. If you want to reach me, just ping.

On Thursday afternoon, the Omo Forest, Ogun State, venue of the show witnessed the battle among the three finalists: Adeleke, Atiku and Kunle, to determine who would win the 2010 edition of the GUS, where 12 contestants started the search for the Ultimate Hero.

After unhooking his bundled plates and constructing his boxes, the winner ran wildly to the beam; took his machete, set his three boxes, climbed over the boxes, cut the rope that tied the bridge to the beam; ran across it like a wild cat and picked the pole.

He jumped inside the champion spot and hoisted the pole with the champion's flag.He just couldn't believe it.

Fayemi becomes new Ekiti state governor

Ekiti State governor, Segun Oni, has been relieved of his job as the federal appeals court rules this afternoon in Ilorin that his opponent and Action Congress governorship candidate in the 2007 election, Kayode Fayemi was the rightful winner of the election.

The court, ruling on a legal challenge to a rerun election held in the state last year, cancelled the result of voting in Ido Osi and Ifaki, saying these were concocted. The 8000 votes were then deducted from the PDP result - thus handing over victory to the Action Congress candidate.

The judges lampooned INEC and Police's handlings of the 2007 and 2009 elections in the state.

"I will stop working when I have money" ; 82 year old canoe operator

An 82-year-old canoe operator, Mr. Wahide Peremule, who said he had been paddling canoe since 1955 said he would not quit the job until he had enough money.

Peremule, one of canoe operators ferrying residents living around Agiliti area in Agboyi Ketu Local Government Development Area of Lagos, told PUNCH METRO said it was proceeds from paddling canoe and hewing of wood that he used to pay the bride price of his wife.

"I will quit paddling canoe as soon as I have enough money so that I can go and retire in my home town in Rivers State," he said.

The octogenarian, who looked energetic and showed dexterity as he paddled some victims of the floods, said he was not bothered by competition from young canoe operators, adding that paddling canoe also required experience.

Born in 1928, Peremule said despite his age, he could still paddle canoe to a long distance and could ferry four passengers at a time.

Peremule, who said he was used to long voyage, added that he made N1,000 daily but could make N2,000 when "business is good."

He said, "I am not a happy man. They demolished my house and I was not given any money to build another house. Where will I stay now? I do not have any place to stay. I am squatting at Maidun. I am married and have four children and a grandchild. Some of my children are still in school. They do not like the job I do. In fact, this is not a good job. I do not like it.

"If I get another job, I will leave it immediately. However, I am in this job to make money and also because canoe paddlers are not many, residents and visitors will suffer as there is no other means of transportations to and from the town."

Culled from the punch newspapers

...OMG is this not pathetic....when am thinking of retiring at 42.....@ 82,he is still thinking of makin money.....when then is he gonna spend it???

We did it the Chilean way!!

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera has spoken of his pride and gratitude following the successful rescue of the 33 trapped miners.

At a news conference just minutes after the final man was hoisted up, Mr Pinera thanked the miners for showing "companionship, solidarity, teamwork and unshakable faith".

He said those values and sentiments would "stay engraved in the deepest parts of our hearts".

"They have given us an example of nobility and greatness that I hope will inspire us.

"When I saw them emerge they were so happy because they were experiencing a kind of rebirth, and this country is more united and stronger than before."

Shift foreman Luis Urzua, 54, was the last miner to reach the surface, the climax of a rescue mission which has gripped the world.

After being embraced by the president, Mr Urzua told told him: "I hand over my shift - I hope this never happens again.

"To our rescuers, to all of Chile and all of the people, I am proud of living in this country."

Mr Pinera replied: "I receive your shift and you have done your duty, coming out last as a good captain will always do.

"I feel proud of each and every one of the 33 miners because they have given an example of courage and loyalty."

Mr Pinera told reporters that as a result of the event, Chile was a "more respected" country.

"People now know more about this small country. It's a country that is able to fight against adversity - to unite with strength, faith and hope.

"I'm very proud to have the privelege and responsibility to be the president of Chile in a year of adversity."

Mr Pinera went on to say the rescue effort was an "inspiring experience" for Chile as well as the world, adding: "We did it in the Chilean way, we did it well."

Hidden dangers of bad breath

It can spoil more than your social life

Bad breath will kill your social life, so it's reasonable that you should figure out what may be causing it. Some causes, like spicy foods, are easy to fix, but others may well point to something more serious.

But let's take this step by step.

How do you know you've got bad breath? Well, people may be keeping their distance, but may be too polite to tell you the real reason.

If you're lucky, someone will be direct, but failing that, you can lick your wrist and smell your saliva - if it stinks, your breath probably does too.

Ok, so you've got bad breath. Let's look at the possible causes.

SMOKING

Are you a smoker? Smoking, aside from the many other obvious ways in which it is bad for you, will make your breath smell of stale smoke. It will also irritate your gums and may increase your risk of gum disease, which can also cause bad breath.

Solution? Stop smoking.

FOOD

Next is food. If you like your garlic and onions raw, you'll just have to choose between this particular passion and decent breath. Alcohol and coffee also affect your breath, but fortunately you can get rid of your bad breath by limiting your intake.

Solution? Watch what you eat and drink.

Keep in mind that eating infrequently, or dieting can also cause bad breath. This is also the case if you're not eating carbohydrates. There, eat that croissant without guilt - it's good for your breath.

HYGIENE

Of course, if you're casual about keeping your mouth clean, no amount of cutting down on garlic will be of help. The old "I'll brush in the morning" routine doesn't really cut it.

Your mouth is full of bacteria which cause plaque, gum disease and dental decay.

When the bacteria are mixed with saliva and food trapped between your teeth, a bad odour ensues. The bacteria can also reside on your tongue, which will also impact your bad breath.

Solution? Obviously, floss and brush, at least twice a day. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles, and take your time to clean the teeth and scrape the tongue.

You can also rinse with anti bacterial mouthwash, though this does not replace brushing your teeth, no matter what your friends tell you. Visit a dentist.

GUM DISEASE

So, after reading this article you've been diligent and keeping away from the garlic and brushing furiously, but the bad breath persists?

Well, you might have gum disease or dental decay. This is something that should immediately be addressed by your dentist.

MEDICAL PROBLEMS

Though this is rare, your bad breath could actually indicate a medical condition.

For instance, your mouth might not be producing enough saliva, or you could have an infection in your lungs, throat or nose. The bad breath could also indicate you have diabetes, liver or kidney problems, or that you suffer from heart burn.

If you've been diligent about your oral cleanliness and the bad breath persists, see your GP.

And if you're not quite concerned enough yet, here is something that will make you brush as soon as you're done with this article.

Recent studies have confirmed that poor oral hygiene can actually increase your risk of heart attack.

This is because poor hygiene can lead to bleeding gums, which provide bacteria with a route into the bloodstream, where they can initiate blood clots leading to heart disease.

Hope rises for NFF

The Confederation of African Football confirmed on Friday it had told the match officials for Nigeria's fixture against Guinea in Conakry to travel for the game in the expectation that the suspension would be lifted.

A spokesman told Reuters they were awaiting word from FIFA, who on Monday suspended the west African country from international competition.

The Guinea Football Federation said it had received faxed instructions from the CAF to continue with preparations for Sunday's Group B qualifier, according to local media.

Nigeria were suspended after weeks of political intrigue in a battle to control the country's football affairs following a disappointing World Cup showing.

FIFA said the ban, which effectively halts all international contact, had come after court actions prevented Nigerian Football Federation officials from "exercising their functions and duties" and after interference from the country's Sports Minister and National Sports Commission.

"The suspension will be maintained until the court actions have ceased and the duly elected NFF Executive Committee is able to work without any interference," said Monday's statement from world football's governing body.

Since then, a court bid that sought to nullify recent federation election results has been withdrawn and the NFF's acting general secretary, Musa Amadu, has been reinstated in his job.

Nigeria's team have continued with their preparations for the Nations Cup qualifier but acting coach Austin Eguavoen said he and the players were unhappy with the situation.

FIFA have not yet provided an update on discussions over Nigeria's ban.

Abstinence from sex;key to my Longevity-Centenarian Virgin

Britain's oldest virgin has celebrated her 107th birthday  - and put her longevity down to her abstinence.

Proud Clara Meadmore has never had sex because she was 'too busy' for intimate relationships, which seemed like 'a lot of hassle'.

Clara knew she would remain single from the age of 12 and abstained as a young woman to concentrate on earning a living.

The retired secretary said sex meant marriage during her youth in the 1920s and 1930s and she wasn't interested in settling down.

She has now reached her 107th birthday and marked the milestone by holding a small party with friends at the Perran Bay nursing home in Cornwall.

Clara, of Truro, Cornwall, also received a card from the Queen and celebrated with a drop of wine - from her favourite beaker.

Speaking on her birthday in 2008, Clara revealed that she was proud of the fact she remained a virgin.

She said: 'People have asked whether I am a homosexual and the answer is no. I have just never been interested in or fancied having sex.

I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things.

'I've never had a boyfriend - I've never been bothered about relationships. When I was a girl you only had sex with your husband and I never married.

Shayo na bastard; that's what i and most of my alcohol dependent friends say after an awesome night of binge drinking. Recounting all the fun and excitement we must have had the previous night, we often make jest of ourselves and in the end laugh it off. This drink of old, which is closely linked to human tradition and genealogy is what scientists have termed ethanol, but to we that consume it, we prefer to be spared all that detail. Some of its effects as we know are euphoria, sexual arousal, reduced alertness, urinary frequency, increased bowel habits to mention a few. I wonder what it is about this substance that makes it more expensive than water even more treasured. Despite conscious awareness of its harmfulness (when taken chronically in large quantity) we still crave for it. Alcohol and music are not so distant relatives because they can both be used in celebrations, burials, and various occasions. But unlike music, a man takes alcohol when he wants to relax, when he is heart broken, or in some schools of thought when he wants to make love. Even in times of settling dispute alcohol is often used to pacify aggrieved persons. Some people even prefer giving alcohol in time of need than food. Blame them?! I will not, because alcoholics value alcohol than food and are often very loyal to people that buy for them. Just like football, alcohol brings unity that transcends race, class, creed and colour (during the period of highness). The deepest secrets are shared when people drink. They say the way to a man's heart is through his belly, that secret substance in the belly is obviously 30percent food, 70percent alcohol. Alcohol brings out the innermost feelings in a man, thats why some people drink and start to believe that they are "superheroes". When like minds brainstorm on who actually invented alcohol, we often conclude that it must have been through serendipity judging from its aged history. All the same, i "tuaile" for the discoverers and the refiners of this product, from the local brew to the luxurious spirits and wines. It is one of the inventions of man with unchanging effects over the years and remains one of the most difficult addictions to cure. My biggest problem, is some alcohol devotees turn beer parlours to their homes. While i write this piece, sipping on a glass of red wine and gradually getting under the influence, it is noteworthy to say that i find myself loving liquor more when i strongly decide to quit. Now i understand why, when a friend of mine who promises to quit, says he wants to go and rush a bottle of beer, he comes home drunk.

HIV-positive muppet to star in Nigeria's 'Sesame Street'

One of America's best-loved children's shows, which began life on a fictional New York street over 40 years ago, is about to land in Nigeria under the title of "Sesame Square" -- bringing with it some distinctly West African twists.

The show stars Kami, a girl Muppet who is HIV-positive, has golden hair and a zest for adventure; and Kobi, an energetic, furry, blue Muppet whose troublesome escapades help others learn from his mistakes.

In a country with a population of over 150 million -- where nearly half are under the age of 14 -- the show will address some of the biggest challenges faced by young people in the region: AIDS, malaria, gender inequality, religious differences -- as well as many positive aspects of Nigerian life.

Wrestler loses Medal for rude gesture @ Commonwealth games

Hassene Fkiri was furious after being disqualified from the gold medal bout in the Greco-Roman wrestling for repeated dangerous play.

Indian media reported that he received three warnings before being disqualified, but was outraged at the decision in front of a boisterous and partisan crowd. Fkiri refused to shake hands with Indian opponent Anil Kumar and raised his middle finger at the judges as he stormed out of the arena in disgust.

The Tunisian-born wrestler would have been handed silver despite his disqualification, but following his gesture he was thrown out of the event completely and lost the medal.

The 36-year-old, who represented Tunisia at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney before switching nationalities, will make a personal apology to officials and his opponent on Wednesday - but it will be too late for him to claim his medal.

"Fkiri will today visit the wrestling venue to personally apologise for his actions to the opponent, referee, judges and officials involved," said Australia team spokesperson John Gatfield.

Following the disqualification South Africa's Kakoma Hugues Bella-Lufu was upgraded from bronze to silver and Canada's Eric Feunekes from fourth to bronze.

INDEPENDENCE SPEECH

‎It is indeed a time for sober reflections. From Boko Haram killings in the north to militancy in the south, kidnapping business in the east, armed robbery plus unemployment in the west and epileptic power supply plus diseases spanning accross all geographical zones of our richly endowed country. Amidst all this, there is still cause for celebration, though we might be bequeathed with dysfunctional leaders and always bring ethnicity and zoning to the fore of our arguments we are still one all the same and we remain united under the canopy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If u have no reason to celebrate your country at all then you could celebrate your family and personal achievements. So in the spirit of faith and oneness lets clink glasses and make a toast to Nigeria: HAPPY INDEPENDENCE HAPPY NIGERIA LONG LIFE, UNITY AND PROGRESS lies ahead!!!

Chidinma wins MTN project fame!

After several weeks of hard work; the training and grooming from the faculty team, harsh criticisms from the judges and the in-house quarrels amongst the housemates, a winner has finally emerged in the third season of Project Fame West Africa. Amid tension, fear, hopes and high expectations Chidinma was tonight pronounced the winner of Project Fame West Africa season 3.

The last six contestants – Kesse, Ochuko, Eyo, Tolu, Yetunde and Chidinma lined up after their performances for the night, waiting for the breaking news. The comperes, Benjamin and Adora delayed the announcement as usual, raising the fright even more. Their eyebrows were blinking per second. They breathed in and out almost every minute – the tension is heightened.

The studio was quiet for few minutes as the validated voting result, enclosed in an envelope was handed over to the hosts. Even the Joke Silva led faculty crew looked tensed. Eventually, Chidinma Ekile who drastically improved in the cause of the show was pronounced the 2010 Project Fame star as she was presented the cheque of N2.5m and keys to a brand new Toyota RAV4. She's also entitled to a recording contract.

It's the first time a lady is winning the contest. And Chidinma's win makes it the third time a Nigerian is coming tops.

Gifted Ghanaian singer Kesse Frimpong was named 1st runner up winning- N1.5m and a Toyota Corolla while Eyo Eminue made the 2nd runner up position and went home with N1m and a Toyota Yaris.

Fan-favourite Yetunde (a.k.a. Omo Ibadan) was named third runner-up.

The other two contestants, Tolu Adeshina and Ochuko Ogbu-Sifo didn't completely lose out of the competition as the top six contestants are expected to release a group song, produced by one of Nigeria's leading producers; as well as a video.

Information reaching us is that 9ice has concluded a video dedicated to dissing Ruggedman.

Rumours of the song was posted on the internet a while back but it seem all true now that a video is said to have been shot for it.

The video is said to be ready for release but 9ice is delaying its release till Ruggedman's birthday which is on 20th September.

On talking to Ruggedman, he said, "‎ Let's see who will run. Let's him release whatever he wants. He's now on ma turf. I will check it out wen its out. If it's worth ma time, I will show him how its done".

Efforts to reach 9ice on the other hand have proved abortive.

Jonny Depp;Hollywood's highest paid actor

Johnny Depp has been named Hollywood's highest paid actor this year.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star earned £50 million for his role as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland'. The canny actor had a back-end deal for the film, which is just one of seven movies that have made over a billion dollars (£640 million) at the worldwide box office.

Depp is now the only actor that has two films in the so-called 'Billionaires Club' - 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' being the other.

Forbes, which conducted the list, said about the actor's box office appeal, "His ability to almost guarantee a big box office (even 'Public Enemies' earned $214 million) means studios are willing to pay whatever it takes to get a bit of the Depp magic."

Depp, who only came tenth last year, should be in the charts next year as well. He is earning around £15 million for Angelina Jolie thriller 'The Tourist' and is currently working on the fourth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' adventure.

Ben Stiller came second in the charts, after earning £38 million for roles in 'Night at the Museum 2' and 'Meet the Fockers'.

Tom Hanks was third (£30 million), with Adam Sandler (£26.6 million) and Leonardo Di Caprio (£18 million) rounding out the top five.

Daniel Radcliffe is the sole British presence in the top ten. His £16 million takings saw him land in sixth place.

The rest of the top ten were Robert Downey Jr (£14.6 million), Tom Cruise (£14.6 million), Brad Pitt (£13 million) and George Clooney (£12.6 million).

Terry G in terrible car crash

Terry G is lucky to be alive, after a nasty accident that left his car badly damaged around 3AM on saturday.

The singer-producer was on his way home, after hanging out with friends in Ikeja, Lagos, when he ran into the road demarcation around Chemiron, close to Sunday Market, in Ogba.

An eye witness tells us Terry was the one driving, and he was in the car with friends.

'The car is gone' our source says. 'And Terry is in the hospital responding to treatment'.

No word yet on where he's being treated. His mobile phone is off, his BlackBerry inactive. And although his manager assures us 'everything is under control'; we have cause to worry because he is either unwilling to offer details on the singer's whereabouts, or he just doesn't have the details.

Two members of House of Ginjah who were riding with him are also believed to be undergoing treatment.

The car- A Toyota Camry – is now lying at the office of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

GLO SLASHES D'BANJ, SUNNY NEJI & PASUMA's ENDORSEMENT FEES

Telecommunication giants GLO who recently added hiphop stars P SQUARE to their long list of ambassadors have slashed D'Banj's endorsement fee from N70 Million to N40 Million and his contract has lots of clauses due to his face-off with the company during the Rock & Rule concert series organised by Globacom. So far, D'Banj is still the highest paid Globacom ambassador; but it appears he is taking his time before signing a new contract.

In the case of Pasuma and Sunny Neji, their fees have been reduced by 40% and they both seem not to be happy about it. This explains why they shunned the unveiling event and are yet to sign the new contract. They were initially paid N20 Million each for two years but the new contract reads N12 Million for both acts for the next two years. They have made their intentions known about the fees but Globacom seems to have taken their final position on the matter.

The new fees are: P Square - N35 Million for two years and a branded Land Cruiser Jeep which will soon be delivered to them

Basketmouth - N30 Million for two years

Sammie Okposo - N25 million for two years

Ego Ogbaro - N15million for two years

Ramsey Nouah, Kate Henshaw and Chioma Chukwuka-Akpota were signed for N30
million for two years.

Other Nollywood stars were signed for N20 Million for two years or below

Doctors exchange blows as woman delivers!

A baby was born with suspected brain damage and his mother needed emergency surgery after two doctors began fighting during the delivery in Italy.

The country's health minister went to Sicily on Monday to deliver a personal apology to the mother.

Laura Salpietro, 30, had to have her uterus removed and her son Antonio suffered heart problems and possible brain damage following his birth on Thursday in Messina's public hospital.

Her husband Matteo Molonia said the doctors disagreed about whether to perform a caesarean section and came to blows while she was in labour. He said the fight delayed the section by over an hour, leading to complications for mother and son.

One of the doctors was Mrs Salpietro's private gynaecologist who cared for her during her pregnancy while the other was the doctor on duty at the hospital.

Prosecutors have placed five doctors under investigation, and Health Minister Ferruccio Fazio said after speaking to Mrs Salpietro on Monday: "I tried to give her words of hope, and above all I tried to tell her that the government was with her and her family at this time."

Man notices bullet in head after 5 yrs

A Polish man living in Germany went about his business for about five years without noticing he had been shot in the head because he was drunk when it happened. Police in the western city of Bochum said on Tuesday doctors found a .22 calibre bullet in the back of his head after the 35-year-old went to have what he thought was a cyst removed.

Presented with the 5.6mm projectile, the man recalled he had received a blow to the head around midnight at a New Year's party "in 2004 or 2005," but had forgotten about it because he had been "very drunk," a police spokesman said.

"He told us he remembered having a sore head, but that he wasn't really one for going to the doctor," the spokesman said.

The wound later healed around the bullet and it was not until the man decided to have the lump examined due to recurring pains that the discovery was made.

Police said they were not treating the incident as suspicious as the bullet might have got lodged in the man's head when a reveller fired a gun in celebration.

"It may have been a shot fired up in the air which entered his head on the way down," the spokesman said.

Wyclef's presidential bid over

Haitian election officials have rejected hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean's bid to run for president of the Caribbean nation. Jean's name was not on the list of 19 approved candidates released by Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council on Friday night...

"I respectfully accept the committee's final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same,"Jean said in a statement.

In an interview with CNN shortly after the approved candidates' list was announced, Jean said he was surprised by the news. "This has come to our party and to our group as a total shock," he said. Jean was among 15 prospective candidates rejected. Elections officials did not provide a reason to reporters, but Jean's statement said they had ruled he was not a resident of the country. "I want to assure my countrymen that I will continue to work for Haiti's renewal; though the board has determined that I am not a resident of Haiti, home is where the heart is and my heart has and will always be in Haiti," Jean's statement said. "This ruling just tells me that I can't officially seek the office of president."

WHEN WE FALL,WHAT NEXT

Emotions are a very strong part of we humans, some of us might be masters at controlling our actions, but we often find it difficult controlling our emotions. It is only human to feel sad or depressed when we fail or fall in our quest to achieve success. But our greatest problems begin when we refuse to rise up from our crash spot.

Many people after failure, like to hang the cross of the victimised on their necks and they often sought after pity and compassion from people around them. Some use the defence mechanism of blaming those around them for their failure, others just look for ways to run away from their failure;often denying it, even taking it to the level of creating fictional thoughts to psyche themselves. Well, i don't totally blame them because without expressing ourselves with words, we individuals have a way of making failure look like a sin by exhibiting disgust in our actions. Personally, i've been abused by failure- now i don't solely mean in terms of failing major exams, i've failed at some businesses i tried to invest in, i've failed at doing the right thing at the right time, i've failed to be a better person to my friends, i've failed to give my best shot in times of trials, i've failed to think big, i've failed in my search for love and even when i found love, i failed to make it last, sometimes i fail to appreciate loved ones.

A friend of mine attempted suicide once he felt failure had taken a stronghold on him and his life was going south. Sometimes people fail due to circumstances beyond their control. So what do we do when we fail, i say we reflect upon our mistakes, take to note that failing itself is not a disease it is when we fail to rise to the occasion by taking the right steps to correct our blunders that it becomes pathologic. Like a popular naija saying goes "man wey dey ground dey fear fall?" meaning "can a man already on the ground be scared of falling?" so why make the ground look like your only option when you can rise up to succeed. I suggest we borrow a strand of resilience from the agama lizard whom when it falls from an iroko tree praises itself and goes back to climb the tree. Thomas Edison finally figured out how to make the electric bulb after 999 attempts, when asked about how he felt while he was failing, he said he learnt 998 ways not to make a bulb. An old saying goes "failure is the mother of success". I would say, successful men today who were good at failing, changed their story by using failure as a catalyst to propagate success thereby making them fail to fail. When we fall, what next, we must stand up.

plane splits into three

One passenger was killed when an airplane crashed in bad weather and broke apart while attempting to land early Monday on the island of San Andres,
Colombia, officials said. National police said 124 people were injured, many of them scattered on the darkened runway when emergency personnel arrived
in the predawn hours. Six people, including an 18-month-old boy, were not injured, the national police said. Some of the patients are in critical condition,
said Robert Sanchez, director of Hospital Amor de Patria.A list released by the Aires airline says 124 people were treated at two local hospitals. Four patients
at Amor de Patria required surgery and another person at the hospital was in "reserved" condition, the airline said. Amor de Patria treated 101 victims while 23
were tended to at Clinica Villareal. An 11-year-old girl suffered severe head and face trauma, Sanchez told CNN en Español. Doctors also were having difficulty
controlling internal bleeding in a man with pelvic injuries, the hospital director said.
The most seriously injured were being transported aboard an air ambulance to Bogota, the nation's capital, Sanchez said.
There were 131 people -- 121 adult passengers, four minors and six crew members -- aboard the Boeing 737-700 jet when it crashed around 1:49 a.m,
national police said.
Police identified the passenger killed as Amar Fernandez de Barreto. The passenger manifest, which goes by last name first, lists a Barreto Fernandez Paola Andrea.
There was conflicting information about what caused the crash. The report from the national police said a downdraft may have shaken the airplane just as
it prepared to land. But Pedro Gallardo, the governor of San Andres y Providencia state, told en Español that lightning hit the plane. The pilot also reported
a lightning strike, El Tiempo newspaper said.

Teacher: why did u laugh?
Boy: I saw 1 strap of ur bra.
Teacher: GET OUT of the classroom for 1 week....
2nd boy laughed.
Teacher: why did u laugh?
Boy 2: I saw both straps.
Teacher: GET OUT FOR 1 MONTH.
Then the teacher bent down 2 pick up a piece of chalk,………..Little Johny started walking out.
Teacher: Johny, why are you going out?
Little Johny : Judging from what I just saw, I think my school days are over!

(2)
A mother had 3 virgin daughters, they were all getting married within a short time period....because Mom was a bit worried about how their sex life would get started, she made them all promise to send a postcard from the honeymoon with a few words on how marital sex felt.

The first girl sent a card from Hawaii two days after the wedding. The card said nothing but: "Nescafe"! Mom was puzzled at first, but then went to her kitchen and got out the Nescafe jar...It said: "Good till the last drop". Mom blushed, but was pleased for her daughter.

The second girl sent the card from Vermont a week after the wedding, and the card read: "Rothmans"   Mom went straight to her husband's cigarettes, and she read from the pack: "Extra Long. King Size"...she was again slightly embarrassed but still happy for her daughter.

The third girl left for her honeymoon in Cape Town. Mom waited for a week, nothing. Another week went by and still nothing. Then after a whole month,a card finally arrived.   Written on it with shaky handwriting were the words "South African Airways"...Mom took out her latest YOU magazine, flipped through the pages fearing the worst, and finally found the advert for SAA. The ad said: "Ten times a day, seven days a week, both ways."...Mom fainted !!!

(3)
Becky was on her deathbed with her husband, John, maintaining a steady vigil by her side. As he held her fragile hand, his warm tears ran silently down his face, splashed onto her face, and roused her from her slumber. She looked up and her pale lips began to move slightly. "My darling John," she whispered.

"Hush, my love," he said. "Go back to sleep. Shhh. Don't talk."

But she was insistent. "John," she said in her tired voice. "I have to talk. I have something I must confess to you."

"There's nothing to confess," replied the weeping John. "It's all right.

Everything's all right, go to sleep now."

"No, no. I must die in peace, John. I slept with your brother, your best friend and your father."

John mustered a pained smile and stroked her hand. "Hush now Becky, don't torment yourself. I know all about it." he said, "Why do you think I poisoned you?"

The Mecca Clock, which Riyadh says is the world's largest, has four faces measuring 43 metres in diameter.

It sits 400 metres up what will be the world's second-tallest skyscraper and largest hotel, overlooking the city's Holy Grand Mosque, which Muslims around the world turn to five times a day for prayer.

Birdman, who goes by his real name, Bryan Williams, when he's doing business as the CEO of Cash Money Records, is making sure everyone knows about his $2.1 million mode of transportation, too. The Dirty South rapper and his crew snapped some shots of the all-red sports car while holding a business card that reads "I am expensive," a statement which would be pretty hard to argue with, given the car's estimated $300,000 annual upkeep costs.

The Bugatti Veyron has an average top speed of 267 miles per hour according to the Guinness Book of World Records. That's faster than a Formula One car... not to mention about one-third of the speed of sound!.

Congrats to him but wait IS THAT NOT =N=315m....??...God have mercy.
